Minutes of the Nilgiris Hotels and Restaurant Association meeting along with Director of SIHRA and the organising committee of Tamil Nadu Travel Expo.

President Address:

• Welcomed the present members and the Tourist Officer.

• With inputs from the Tourist Officer, briefed about the local administration plan to celebrate the Nilgiris Roots Festival on the 16th August 2025, 11AM at the RCTC Hall, Botanical Garden Road, Ooty, which comprises of music, art, storytelling and food courts, the period being an extended Independence weekend, this event would be potential for us take the food stall to showcase the cuisine to the tourist flocking on that day and the venue being a perfect location. Though the food stall is chargeable, the cost could be negotiated.

• With inputs from the Sports Officer, briefed about the Chief Ministers Trophy Games 2025 – 26, for the General Public aged between 15 and 35 years old, in the sports discipline of Athletics, Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Carrom, Silabam. Badminton & Kabaddi, the participants should have worked in Nilgiris for a minimum of 5 years and the last date for registration is 16th August 2025.

• With inputs from the Administrator, Food Safety Department, in view of recyclable rather than plastic products used in our food industry, Dr. Anuradha needs to address all our members, we are instructed to make a meeting arrangement on the Thursday 14th August 2025. The venue with timings to be communicated soon and all members to participate the same, as per information a few of the Hotels and Restaurants were taken for a task by the Department in the previous week.

Secretory 's Address:

• Welcomed the organizing committee of the Tamil Nadu Travel Expo for their gracious visit to our district Mr. Sunder Singaram, Director of Operations SIHRA, Ms. Priya Mohan, Secretary and Mr. Amarnath, General Manager, The Residency Towers, Coimbatore, to promote the second edition of the Tamil Nadu Travel Expo, scheduled to be held from 26th to 28th September 2025 in Madurai, is truly appreciated. The upcoming expo, under the inspiring tagline "Explore Beyond Heritage", is jointly organized by the Travel Club - Madurai, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the South India Hotels and Restaurants Association (SIHRA), with the valued support of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

• Further thanked them for personally inviting us — many of whom participated in the inaugural edition of the Expo last year — to once again be part of this prestigious event.

• Requested the members to support the remarkable initiative and participate in this upcoming event in large numbers.

• And requested President Mr. Suresh Nair to honour Mr. Sundar Singaram and Treasurer Mr. Karthikeyan to honour Mr. Amarnath, General Manager, The Residency Towers, Coimbatore.

Mr. Sunder Singaram, Director of Operations SIHRA Address:

• Existing average occupancy rate of High- and low-end Hotels to be increased by 20% by converting the unsold rooms, which is to be considered as perishable commodity.

• To sell as destination, keeping in mind the heritage value of the town / History / flora & fauna / Golf.

• To plan events and market the destination, attracting more guests for the destination.

• TTE Expo Madurai 26,27 & 28 September 2025.

• He emphasized the potential of the expo and asked all the members to participate and reap the benefits.

Mr. Amarnath, General Manager, The Residency Towers, Coimbatore, Address:

• Presented the upcoming TTE 2025 through a visual mode in detail.

Treasurer Address:

• To increase the foot fall in the Monsoon period, requested the Tourist Officer to be in liaison with stake holders and the administration to conduct festivals / organise activities.

Vote of thanks by Mr. Rajan:

• Thanked the organizing committee of the Tamil Nadu Travel Expo for their courteous visit this evening to promote the second edition of the Tamil Nadu Travel Expo and he too being part the committee, the members can get in touch with him with more information of the Expo.

• He applauded the relentless work put frontward by Mr. Sunder Singaram, for the last 2 decades in the SIHRA.
