World tourism day celebration

On behalf of the Nilgiris Hotel and Restaurant Association, it gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to the World Tourism Week 2025 celebrations, organized under the inspiring tagline “Responsible and Sustainable Tourism.”

We fondly recall how, in the past years, this celebration has not only been a gathering of our industry but also a reaffirmation of our collective commitment to tourism in the Nilgiris. Each year, we have come together with enthusiasm, unity, and purpose—whether it was the vibrant march through Ooty town, the food carnival that showcased our finest cuisines, or the cultural programs that brought joy to both visitors and locals alike.

This year, the celebration is planned on an even grander scale, with more participation, more variety, and more impact. Our march, the food courts, the fun games, and the music orchestra are all designed to highlight the vibrancy and resilience of our industry, while also underlining our responsibility toward sustainable growth.

I take this moment to thank all our members, partners, and the district administration for their wholehearted support and cooperation in making these events possible year after year. It is your dedication that keeps the spirit of tourism in the Nilgiris alive and thriving.

As we begin today’s program, let us remind ourselves that tourism is not just about business—it is about people, culture, community, and above all, responsibility. Together, let us celebrate with pride, responsibility, and sustainability, while also committing ourselves to make every year’s celebration more meaningful and more magnificent.
